The temporary reception area for residues of plant origin was presented at a press conference by the Mayor of Agia Antonis Gountaras. During the interview, Mr. Gountaras also referred to the construction of the Green Point of Agia, as well as the City On application, which serves as a new tool for citizens to communicate with the services of the Municipality of Agia.

More specifically, Mr. Gountaras stressed that citizens can deliver plant products from pruning or cleaning plots at the point that has been demarcated in a municipal area and is located next to the bridge “Puri” alongside the stream in the back road of Ayokambos. The collection is carried out after a visual inspection by a municipal official and the products are then crushed and converted into biomass. In fact, the Municipality of Agia has purchased special composters under a European project that it is implementing, which will turn the residues into soil enhancer for the plantations of the municipality.
The operating hours of the site, is according to the responsible deputy mayor Mr. George Panagiotou every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 am to 12 noon and from 5.30 to 8.30 in the afternoon and Saturday from 8 am to 12 noon.

Mr Panagiotou also stressed that the same place can be used for the collection of bulky materials (mattresses, furniture, etc.) will be done three times a month for Agia and the coastal areas and once a month for the other local communities, always after a telephone appointment with the cleaning service (tel 2494024510 and 11).

Panagiotou clarified, however, that the Municipality is not responsible for the collection of building materials, which citizens are obliged to deposit in specially licensed areas, at their own risk.

Green Point 

Mr. Gountaras also stressed that the construction of the Green Point of Agia, a project included in the PEP Thessaly, which will manage in a rational way most of the waste streams of the Municipality, has been approved.

City On 

Present at the press conference was the head of the Crowd Policy Company, Mr. George Karamanolis, who presented the City On application which is installed on the mobile phones of residents and visitors of the Municipality and through which they can report problems or submit requests that concern them. The application is already operational and is linked to the services of Sanitation, Green, Recycling, Electric Lighting, Water and Irrigation.

The company is leveraging its international and local experience by providing a tool that enhances digital governance, empowers citizen participation and improves municipal services in serving citizens.

Finally, the Mayor of Agia Antonis Gountaras did not fail to thank the Region of Thessaly, the Secretary General of Solid Waste Manolis Grafakos and the Forestry Department, while he thanked the employees of the Cleaning and Green of the Municipality of Agia, as well as the employees of the Civil Protection Service. He invited the citizens of the Municipality of Agia to surround them with special respect, recognizing the importance and significance of the services they offer to the community, under adverse conditions.
