Patras this year welcomes May with song, dance, and race, with the Cultural Organization of the municipality organizing a series of artistic events and actions on the 29th and 30th of April. These include musical and dance groups, while artistic creations and the established Anthesteria will take place in collaboration with the florists association. A reference point this year is the Ipsila Alonia and Omonia squares.

At 9.30 on the evening of Saturday, April 29 in Psilalonia,a concert with Fotini Velesiotou will take place, in which Panayiotis Papageorgiou (piano – accordion), Orestis Koletsos (bouzouki), Nikos Zournis (guitar) and Dionysis Makris (Bass) participate.

At the same time in Omonia Square will start a “folk feast” with a Patras music group consisting of Stavros Xiouras (piano-clarinet), Dionysia Drouvari (song), Andreas Golfinopoulos – bouzouki-song) and Yiannis Galanis (guitar-song)

On Sunday, April 30, the curtain of the events opens in the square of Ipsila Alonia at 7.30 in the evening. For two hours, traditional dances will be presented while May Day creations for young children will be presented by the teachers of the visual workshop of the municipality of Patras and Anthesteria.

At 9.30 in the evening in Omonia Square will start a concert with the folk orchestra of the dance department

CELEBRATION OF DANCE BANDS

The Dance Department of the Cultural Organization, in the context of the May Day events, organizes again this year the “celebration of dance bands” combining the International Dance Day with the May Day festivities.
The presentation of the dance groups will begin on Sunday, April 30 at 6.00 in the afternoon from the National Resistance square. The complexes through the historical center will end up in the square of Psili Alonia.
This year’s” Festival of dance bands ” is attended by 32 groups from cultural associations, associations and associations, which will appear respectively in the following places:
