
In an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm, the launch of the program “Chalepas and the Tale of Belle II” took place on Saturday, April 5, 2025!
The new chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cultural Foundation of Tinos, Mr. Filippos Pierros, accompanied by the secretary, Mr. Evangelos Kalogeros, welcomed the children in the Nikolaos Gyzis Hall at the beginning of the workshop.
A few words about the programme:
“Chalepas and the Fairy Tale of Belle II” is a cycle of 5 art workshops for primary and secondary school children and started last Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the hospitable premises of the Cultural Foundation of Tinos. With the painter Nektarios Antonopoulos and 48 children of the island of Tinos participating in it!
The aim of the workshops is to create an exhibition of art and photographs through the eyes of the children. And also, the creation of a small catalogue of their works that will accompany the opening of the exhibition at the Cultural Foundation of Tinos. The theme of their exhibition and the occasion for their creation will be the emblematic autograph work of Giannoulis, “The Fairy Tale of Belle II” (1918). The work belongs to the permanent collection of the Panhellenic Holy Foundation of Evangelistria Tinos and is exhibited at the Cultural Foundation of Tinos.
Description
The hour-long workshops of the programme focus on introducing children to the figures that make up “the Fairy Tale of Belle II”. At the same time, the children create their own artwork and photograph Giannoulis’ work, always with the support of their respective animators. The last workshop will be dedicated to curating their exhibition and catalogue of their works. The programme is based on the principles of non-formal education and the workshops will be experiential in nature.
During the workshops the children will have the opportunity both to get acquainted with elements of Giannoulis’ life and work. To find conversations of this particular work with the painting of the also Tinian painter Nicolaos Gyzi, the Fairy Tale of Granny, to explore the photographic material of Ilias Eliades that depicts works by Halepas in the halls of the Foundation. And in each case, to express themselves through the creation of their own artworks, utilizing various and different media and materials each time.
