
A first acquaintance with Patras, the city which for more than ten days will be a reference point for their creative expression, had the artists participating in the work of the Symposium of Engraving “Liberation from Asphyxia”, organized by the vice-mayorate of culture.
The artists, together with the President of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, Nassos Chalkidis and members of the Board of Directors, toured the Archaeological Museum of Patras and the Achaia Clauss Winery on Sunday morning, May 18th.
The participants of the symposium, in the presence of the Mayor of Patras Kostas Peletidis, the Deputy Mayor of Culture Apostolis Angelis and the municipal councillor Athina Kallimani-Georgitsopoulou, were guided to the exhibition “ALIVE HERITAGE. MATTER AND MEMORY – Greek Artists of the Diaspora” which is hosted at the Museum.
The exhibition is co-organized by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Achaia and the Foundation “Hellenic Diaspora”, in the framework of the celebration of the International Museum Day 2025. The engravers were also given a guided tour of the permanent exhibition of the Museum.
The tour was conducted by Georgia Manolopoulou, Museologist of the Museum and curator of the exhibition, Vassilis Kalogiratos, of the Foundation “Greek Diaspora”, which curates and co-organizes the exhibition, Eleni Gatsas, Art Historian, collaborator of the Foundation
The artists then visited the Achaia Clauss site. The visit took place in the context of the wineries’ festive spring event “Open Doors”.
The Achaia Clauss team led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Nikolaos Karapanos and Pericles Baltas, Panagiotis Karapanos, Alexandros Baltas, Sotiris Karagiannis and Stathis Argyropoulos welcomed the artists, who were given a guided tour of the estate and the museum premises and tasted wine labels of the winery.
