After the declaration of a state of national mourning due to the tragic shipwreck in Pylos, the events of the 42nd Cherry Festival in Metaxochori are as follows:
FRIDAY 16 JUNE
16:30pm Speech on Cherry by the Professor at the Department of Plant Production and Rural Environment, University of Thessaly – Director of the Department’s Horticulture Laboratory, Mr. George Nanos, in the square.
SATURDAY 17 JUNE
11:30am Cherry cooking with children by the Gastronomy Instructor Mrs. Gianna Balafouti, at the square
- 7:15pm Officials’ meeting at the GAC. Presentation of the personal archive of Mrs. Anna Vagena entitled “The birth of Thessalian Theatre”
- 8:00pm Holy Mass – Greetings – Speeches – Visit to the exhibitors’ stands, at Samarades Square
- 9:00pm Guided tour of the Parthenagio. Exhibition of paintings by Mrs. EleniSivridou.
- SUNDAY 18 JUNE
- 9:00am Easy hike in cooperation with the Healthy Agia Runners Association “Knowing my place – On the paths of Metaxochori”
- 11:00am Interactive presentation of the book “The hour of the sky went pink with orange” by Lilia Gounis – Sofikitis with illustrations by Vasilis Koutsogiannis, by Pataki Publications, in the lower square
- 12:00pm Innovative actions for children with Innovation Park Joist: We bring our drawing to life and learn with Augmented Reality – We play and program with DuckyCode, in the lower square
- In case of bad weather conditions, the events taking place in the village squares will be moved to the Cultural Centre (old Parthenagogue).
