The Department of Economics of the University of Cyprus is currently accepting applications for one (1) full-time (38 hours/week) position of Specialist (Project Support) to provide administrative support to the Department of Economics.
CONDITIONS
The Project Support Specialist will be employed on a contract basis. The duration of employment will be for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for a further year based on performance and availability of funding. The monthly gross remuneration will amount to €1000. From this amount will be deducted employee contributions to the various State funds. This amount includes a proportion of the 13th salary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Support Specialist will perform the following administrative tasks under the direct and general supervision of the Chair of the Department:
- It contributes to the mission of the Department of Economics by supporting efforts to contribute to scientific research, teaching and linking science to society.
- Provides administrative support to the curricula of the Department of Economics
- Performs general administrative, secretarial and/or accounting duties related to the responsibilities of the Finance Department.
- He/she is responsible for the implementation of key processes and the achievement of predefined objectives and indicators as defined in the Department’s business plan.
- He/she is responsible for the organisation, updating and proper operation of the Department’s archives.
- Write and submit reports and notes in Greek and English.
- Collect and process statistical and other data and information and prepare and submit reports.
- Collects and organizes documents for Departmental Council meetings, takes minutes and contributes to the monitoring and timely processing of decisions made.
- Ensures the provision, management and proper operation of electronic/technological and office equipment, as well as the housing needs of the Department.
- Contributes to the implementation of the Legislation and Regulations relevant to the duties of the position as well as to the timely implementation of the decisions of the collective bodies of the University.
- Organizes and coordinates workshops, events, seminars and conferences related to the activities of the Department.
- Carry out any other related tasks assigned to him/her.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Baccalaureate from a recognised Secondary School or University degree or diploma or equivalent qualification
2. Very good knowledge of Greek and English language
3. Very good knowledge of the use of an electronic word processor, Microsoft Word (Windows) and spreadsheets (Excel).
4. Ability to use the Internet as well as experience and familiarity with Teams and Zoom collaboration and video conferencing platforms.
5. Experience in planning organizing and implementing events/exhibitions.
6. At least two years of work experience relevant to the duties of the position,
7. Integrity of character, confidentiality, responsibility, initiative, initiative, cheerfulness, organizational and management skills, and ability to work effectively with others and communicate effectively.
- Success in the Intermediate or Higher Accounting Examination of the London Chamber of Commerce or any other examination approved as equivalent by the Chancellor of the Exchequer will be considered an additional qualification.
- A degree in Business Administration, Economics or a related field will be considered an advantage.
