The Train-Theater “The Train” in Rouf announces an extension of the deadline for submitting proposals for the 7th Contemporary Dance Festival “Compartments Dance Project.” The new deadline for submissions is March 22, 2026.

For the seventh consecutive year, the Train-Theater “The Train” in Rouf opens its doors and invites young dancers, choreographers, and contemporary dance companies to participate in the 7th Contemporary Dance Festival “Compartments Dance Project,” which will take place for the first time in the spring, from May 17 to 31, 2026.

Since its launch in 2016 as a special section of the “The 12 Compartments” Young Artists Festival, the “Compartments Dance Project” has established itself as a meeting point for contemporary dance and a space for experimentation by emerging artists. For fifteen days, the historic train cars and every unexpected corner of the Train are transformed into a stage and a source of inspiration for short-duration dance performances, in an original concept by Tatiana Lygari, artistic director of the Train at Rouf, which challenges large-scale venues and conventional viewing conditions in practice.

This year, the “Compartments Dance Project” turns its attention to the qualities that define the human condition: love, romance, imagination, critical thinking, empathy, friendship, and communication. How are they preserved and strengthened amidst a landscape of technological explosion? Where does resistance lie, and in what ways can it be activated? Artists are invited to explore, through their choreographic language, ways to cultivate and strengthen those precious elements that define us and allow us to remain human.

All performances, lasting 15 to 20 minutes, take place in the train cars and on the outdoor stage at Apovathra, daily from 6:30 PM to 11:30 PM, in a rotating program, creating a fortnight of intense artistic activity, dialogue, and exchange of ideas.
