The Department of Informatics of the University of Cyprus is currently accepting applications to fill one (1) full-time (38 hours/week ) Project Support Specialist position to participate in the support of the computer systems and users of the Department of Informatics.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The Specialist will be employed on a contract basis. The term of employment will be for an initial period of twelve (12) months, renewable for an additional twelve (12) months, for a total of two (2) years, based on performance. The monthly gross remuneration will be €2010.44 depending on qualifications and experience. Employee contributions will be deducted from this amount. The monthly gross earnings will include a 13th salary pro rata.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Support Specialist will be employed by the Department of Information Technology and will perform the following duties under the general supervision of the Department Chair:
He/she will participate in the overall work of supporting Computer Systems and Users
He/she will actively participate in the following:
- Installation, configuration and support of MS-Windows, Macintosh and UNIX/Linux systems
- Support, mentoring and training of users (academic, administrative and student)
- installation, configuration and maintenance of network systems (switches, routers) including their cabling
- preparation and/or modification of software systems
- maintaining records of changes, problems and technical reports, preparing reports and making recommendations for the resolution of problems.
- processing or ensuring the implementation of decisions taken, applying the relevant legislation and regulations, keeping minutes and conducting relevant correspondence.
- mentoring, training and supervising subordinates; performs any other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree or diploma or equivalent qualification in at least one of the following subjects or a combination of subjects: Computer Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Information Technology, Internet Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Network Management, Network Security.
- Experience in MS-Windows and UNIX/Linux systems
- Experience in network systems (copper/fiber cabling, switches, routers, firewalls)
- Experience in user support
- Very good knowledge of Greek and English language
- At least one year of practical experience relevant to the duties of the position
ADVANTAGES
- Possession of CCNA or JCNP certificate and/or knowledge of Junos OS
- Experience in Centralized Computing Systems (e.g. virtualization, data storage infrastructure, backup, Active Directory, LDAP)
- Experience in a University institution
