A book with the aim of restoring the reputation of the Middle Ages as ‘Dark Ages’, by presenting multiple inventions originating between the 5th and the 15th century. From everyday objects such as eyeglasses, buttons, paper and books, technologies such as the sailor’s compass and helm, to literary works such as Dante’s and Boccaccio’s, the progress and development that actually took place in those centuries is highlighted, thus restoring its significantly distorted image.
