For its 14th edition, Borderline Festival 2025 returns, differently. In a new space and with a new vision for contemporary experimental electronic music.
For two days and on two stages, Borderline Festival 2025 presents 15 DJ sets and live performances next to kinetic sculptures by Takis, combining the pulse of the dancefloor with an enchanting sonic and visual alchemy. On Friday 11 and Saturday 12 April, in the industrial space of the Onassis Ready, the new building of the Onassis Foundation, we will have two immersive experiences.
Art soundscape or Underground club? This year’s version of Borderline takes us on a magnificent dual experience. On the ground level, we encounter Ehohroma’s atmospheric soundscapes, Viki Steiri’s shifting, transcendent live compositions, Mr. Clarinet’s avant-garde mix of tribal wave and industrial electronics, Pinna Bounce’s experimental musical narratives, DJ Sex in one of his rare appearances, and Turbo Teeth’s unclassifiable broken electronics. Among the sounds, the audience will have the opportunity to experience firsthand a selection of the legendary self-taught Greek artist Takis in Onassis Collection. An eclectic mix of audiovisual stimuli that goes beyond the boundaries of a DJ set.
The sound experience continues in the basement. Here, the situation is underground and the space is transformed into a club with an elaborate set that allows the mind, body and soul to experience everything in intensity. World renowned craftsman of psychedelic and hypnotic electronic music Donato Dozzy and adventurous heir to the British tradition Joy Orbison (both performing for the first time in Greece) meet the visionary techno of Aurora Halal, the explosive mix of breakbeats, electro and IDM of Mad Miran, the tribal sonic explorations of Iggor Cavalera, the drone-noise music of AMR, the audiovisual performance of Forensis (Forensic Architecture) x Bill Kouligas, the legendary co-founder of Basic Channel, Moritz von Oswald, who presents his latest release, “Silencio”, our very own Echo Canyon from Athens with his futuristic sonic approaches, and the fast-rising Madam X with her signature mix of all kinds of bass.
The works of Takis, from the Onassis Collection at Onassis Ready.
Panagiotis Vassilakis, commonly known as Takis (1925-2019), was one of the most innovative artists of the 20th century. A genius who moved between art and science, sculpture and engineering, sound and light. The presence of Takis at the Onassis Collection is not only a tribute to a great creator. It is an immersion in an inner universe, where art does not depict the world, but activates it. The Onassis Collection hosts more than thirty representative works by Takis, offering a rare opportunity to follow the evolution of his radical thought through time. Eight of these will be on display at Onassis Ready, as part of Borderline Festival 2025.
