On Saturday, September 13 (8:00 p.m.), the Municipality of Petroupolis, in collaboration with the Regional Union of Municipalities of Attica, is organizing the “Minos Volanakis” cultural gathering of cultural associations and organizations active in traditional dances.
This year’s event, as always with free admission for the public, is accompanied by music and dance – apart from the municipal departments – with bands from Crete, the Greek-speaking villages of southern Italy, and Palestine, bringing the aroma and color of the Mediterranean peoples to the Petras Theater.
Specifically, the following will be participating: the Traditional Dance Department of the Municipality of Petroupolis, the Cultural Association “Akteokrites,” which will present dances from Crete, the Association of Arkadians of Ilioupolis “Oi Proseleni,” which has invited the musical groups “Tamburellisti di Torrepaduli” and “AstériA” from the Greek-speaking villages of southern Italy, as well as the Palestinian Community of Greece, with the dance group “Al-Awde” (The Return), which will present traditional Palestinian Dabke dances, a symbol of collectivity and resistance.
