The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki opens its doors again to the general public with the big event “Aristotle University on Sunday”, an event that this year returns dynamically, as it is part of the anniversary programme for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of its foundation (“Goverment Gazette 22/6/1925”).
On the next two Sundays, 18 and 25 May 2025, the campus will be transformed into the largest educational park in the country, giving young and old alike the opportunity to experience the world of science, research and creation.
More than 60 faculty members from 20 different departments of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with the help of 550 volunteers, will participate in more than 45 activities aimed at all ages. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour laboratories, attend presentations and demonstrations, take part in experiments, creative workshops and educational games. At the same time, they will have access to museums, rare archives and collections, as well as to special places such as the Observatory, the Meteorological Station, the Seismological Station, the Children’s Centre, the facilities of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Serres and in Taxiarchis in Halkidiki, among others.
The public is invited to participate actively, to experience the university knowledge and to learn about the rich academic and research work of the Foundation.
“Thessaloniki at AUTH” – 19 to 24 May 2025
From Monday 19 to Saturday 24 May 2025, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki will open its doors to host a unique series of events, entitled “Thessaloniki at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki”, as part of the Foundation’s anniversary events. The event highlights the close and multi-layered relationship between the university and the city of Thessaloniki itself – a relationship that is long-standing, fruitful and vital for the social, cultural and scientific development of the city.
Through 36 selected actions, which will be developed in various areas of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the citizens of Thessaloniki will have the opportunity to get in touch with the work of the university community and actively participate in an open space of dialogue, knowledge and creativity. 43 faculty members from 24 different Departments, as well as 250 volunteers, are participating in the event, demonstrating in practice the concept of university cooperation and confirming that the University is not a closed academic system, but a living organism in constant dialogue with society, listening to its needs and offering fertile ground for solutions, innovation and culture.
The diversity of the activities reflects the richness of the scientific work carried out at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while the strong voluntary participation enhances the social character of the event. At the same time, the choice of topics and presentation formats has been made in a way that is accessible and attractive to the general public – a practical proof of the extroversion that characterises the Aristotle University.
