As part of the celebrations for European Heritage Days, the Department of Conservation of Antiquities, Works of Art, and Archaeometry at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum is organizing an experiential workshop on the theme:

“Sculptures, Pottery, Gold, BEFORE and AFTER,” on October 16 and 17, 2025.

The workshop aims to introduce secondary school students to the science of antiquities conservation.

The workshop includes:

a. an introduction to the science of conservation, with the presentation of informative material, a demonstration of the use of scientific instruments and tools, and the observation of authentic ancient objects

b. a short educational program, where students are invited to play the role of an antiquities conservator and discover the beauty of reconstructing a ceramic object (replica).
