The Department of Environment of the School of Technology at the University of Thessaly invites interested candidates to submit applications for enrollment in the Postgraduate Program titled “Environmental Management” for the academic year 2025-2026.

The scope of the Postgraduate Program (P.G.) “Environmental Management” (Government Gazette B’ 3608/11-07-2022) is to provide advanced scientific knowledge and technologies, understanding of legislative frameworks and their application, and methodological approaches related to Environmental Sciences.

For the award of the Diploma of the MSc, the following is required:

  • The successful completion and examination of ten (10) compulsory courses.
  • The preparation and successful examination of a Postgraduate Diploma Thesis.

Specialisation in subject areas, depending on the professional orientation and interests of the candidates, is achieved through the selection of a suitable thesis topic.

The minimum duration of studies for the full-time MSc is three (3) semesters and part-time studies is six (6) semesters.The Department of Environment has the necessary logistical infrastructure and supports all the necessary modern educational resources for the implementation of the courses and other activities of the MSc.

The courses of the MSc are taught on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings at the headquarters of the Department of Environment in Larissa. The courses are taught face-to-face and 35% of the courses are taught by distance learning.

The total tuition fees of the MSc amount to 2.500 € including travel expenses for two field visits during the studies. According to article 86, of Law 4957/2022, students of the MSc, in a percentage not exceeding 30% of the total number of students admitted to the MSc, may be exempted from tuition fees for financial reasons.

In the Postgraduate Program “Environmental Management,” graduates from Higher Education Institutions (Universities and Technological Educational Institutes) of Greece and equivalent foreign institutions whose degrees have been recognized as equivalent by DOATAP (Hellenic NARIC) are admitted after selection. Specifically, graduates from Departments of Schools of Technology, Polytechnic Schools, Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences, as well as graduates from Pedagogical Departments, Departments of Economics and Social Sciences, and Teaching Schools with relevant experience in the program’s subject area, can attend.

Students from foreign institutions must submit a certificate of equivalence and recognition from DOATAP. If they do not possess this certificate, the University of Thessaly will verify the recognition of the foreign institution and degree, provided these are listed in the National Registry of Recognized Foreign Institutions and the National Registry of Recognized Foreign Degree Types, according to Article 304 of Law 4957/2022.

The number of postgraduate students accepted into the Postgraduate Program (P.M.S.) “Environmental Management” is set at thirty (30) per year.

The selection of postgraduate students is done after a personal interview, taking into account the following criteria:

  1. Degree grade (30%).
  2. Level of English language proficiency (15%).
  3. Professional experience (10%).
  4. Possession of other postgraduate degrees (10%).
  5. Computer skills (10%).
  6. Personal interview (25%).

Interested candidates must complete the  application form (Αίτηση ΠΜΣ)  and submit it electronically to the address [email protected], accompanied by the following necessary documents:

  1. Curriculum vitae.
  2. Letter of interest (a brief statement of academic and research interests, including reasons for interest in this specific P.M.S.).
  3. Copy of degree from a Greek Higher Education Institution (University or Technological Educational Institute). For graduates of foreign universities, a certificate of recognition from DIKATSA/DOATAP must be submitted (academic recognition procedures of article 304 of Law 4957/2022 apply). Candidates who have completed their studies but only await graduation must submit a related certificate from their department along with a detailed transcript and degree grade. Candidates about to graduate must provide a transcript showing pending courses.
  4. Certificate of detailed undergraduate grades.
  5. Postgraduate degrees (if any).
  6. Work experience (if any).
  7. Recognized certificates of English language proficiency. Certificates accepted are those recognized by ASEP at level B2 and above. This requirement is waived for holders of undergraduate or postgraduate degrees from foreign universities where the instruction language is English.
  8. Certificate of computer skills.
  9. Two (2) letters of recommendation.
