Description

The MSc operates within the framework of the second cycle of studies of the Department of Environmental Studies of the University of Thessaly in order to provide specialised knowledge in cognitive subjects and fields.

Graduates of the MSc acquire knowledge and skills of Professional Qualifications Level 7, in accordance with the European Qualifications Framework for Higher Education and its incorporation into Greek legislation.

The duration of full-time studies is three (3) semesters and a total of ninety (90) credit hours (ECTS) are awarded. The first two semesters include the teaching of courses, of which 35% are taught remotely via distance learning. The courses are held every Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. In the third semester each student selects and prepares a Diploma Thesis, which is the specialisation, relevant to his/her interests or profession.

Object: The objective of the MSc is to provide advanced scientific knowledge and technologies, knowledge of legislative frameworks and their application and methodological approaches relevant to Environmental Sciences to graduates of the Department.

The aim of the programme is to train scientists in cutting-edge technologies, methods and practices for environmental protection.

The goal of the programme is to provide high quality and multifaceted scientific training for scientists to monitor, assess, and manage the environment, conduct research and analyse environmental data, and teach environmental science.

Graduates of the MSc will be able to offer services as freelancers or employees in the private or public sector on issues of environmental pollution and restoration, sustainable development and circular economy, environmental policy, and in education and awareness raising for the development of environmental awareness.

Admission of students: Graduates of higher education institutions (Universities and Technical Universities) of the Greek and the corresponding equivalent higher education institutions of foreign countries are admitted by selection. In particular, graduates of Faculties of Technology, Faculties of Engineering, Science and Agricultural Sciences, as well as graduates of Faculties of Education, Faculties of Economics and Social Sciences and Teacher Training Faculties are eligible to attend.

Tuition and Fees: The tuition fees amount to €2,500.

According to Article 35, par. 2 of the Law 4485/2017, students of the MSc, in a percentage not exceeding 30% of the total number of students, may be exempted from tuition fees for financial reasons.

Based on paragraph 4 of article 35 of Law 4485/2017 and in special cases, scholarships may be granted to students based on academic criteria.
