The Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) invites applications for admission to the Graduate Program titled “Earth Sciences & Environment.”

The Graduate Program (MSc) is governed by the provisions of Law 4957/2022 in combination with the Internal Operating Regulation of the MSc Program, as currently in effect following its approval by the Ministry of Education (Decision No. 200/15-04-2025) and protocol number 30015/19-03-2025, according to the decision on 08/04/2025 of the University Senate for the re-establishment of the MSc Program (Government Gazette: 3434, Vol. B’, 17/08/2018).

The purpose of the new MSc is to provide high-level postgraduate education by offering specialized knowledge and deepening understanding of contemporary environmental challenges, such as the climate crisis, natural hazards and resilience, earthquake protection, seismic risk management, understanding seismic hazard under climate change conditions, assessment and monitoring of pollution (soil, atmospheric, water), digital recording of environmental parameters, sustainable management of natural resources, support for sustainable policies and environmental governance, conservation of geopiversity and protection of geosites (UNESCO Global Geoparks), promotion of geoheritage as a tool for sustainable development, and documentation and projection of historical climate variability.

The MSc “Earth Sciences and Environment” awards a Master’s Degree with specialization in the following fields:

  • Geophysics and Seismology
  • Environmental Monitoring and Sustainability
  • Geoconservation and Climatic Variability
