At a time when health, the environment, and population aging are key factors for sustainable development and social well-being, the need for specialized scientists is more urgent than ever.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki offers two innovative Interinstitutional Postgraduate Programs (IIPP) that link knowledge with practice and science with society:

  • MSc “Health and Environmental Factors”
  • MSc “Applied Gerontology and Geriatrics”

IIPP “Health and Environmental Factors”

The program focuses on exploring the relationship between the natural and human environment and human health, promoting interdisciplinary knowledge and research collaboration.

Students acquire specialized skills in environmental burdens, disease mechanisms, prevention, and risk management, while actively participating in research projects and social actions.

The Histologistas research team stands out, combining basic medical research with digital technologies and scientific communication, offering students experiential education through experiments, data analysis, and international presentations.

The program is distinguished for its extroversion, with participation in important scientific and informational events. Among them:

  • the Workshop in Edessa on the relationship between the environment and health, and
  • the Panhellenic Conference “Environment, Children, and Health Promotion – For a Sustainable Tomorrow,” to be held in Metsovo (November 1–3, 2025).

The conference is a unique opportunity to learn about the programs, students, and faculty, as well as to participate in an open dialogue on sustainable development and health promotion.

IIPP “Applied Gerontology and Geriatrics’

The program focuses on the study of health and care for the elderly, through an interdisciplinary approach that combines theory with practice.

Students are trained in geriatric medicine, the psychology of aging, cognitive enhancement, pharmacotherapy, and social care, while also participating in activities with a strong social impact.

Recently, the program organized the 1st Regional Geriatric Conference, highlighting the importance of aging with dignity and scientific care, as well as the workshop “The Healthy Elderly” in Larissa, dedicated to supporting the elderly in the Greek provinces and promoting active and healthy aging.

Research – Society – Job Market

Both programs are closely linked to research, society, and the job market, providing students with the tools for scientific and professional development.

Participants have the opportunity to develop research skills, collaborate on interdisciplinary projects, and contribute to awareness and prevention initiatives aimed at improving public health and quality of life.

Become part of a dynamic academic community that brings science and society, research and practice, and knowledge and service together.

Study today, with tomorrow in mind—for a healthier, more humane, and sustainable future.
