OPANDA, with the aim of cultivating the musical education of young people, organizes in May at the “Anna and Maria Kalouta” Multipurpose Hall educational programs for primary and secondary school students, which will be conducted by the Musical Ensembles of the Municipality of Athens, with free participation. The Greek Music Workshop, the Big Band and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens welcome the children to be introduced by their experienced musicians to the history and instruments of the Greek and jazz music scene, as well as to the magical world of wind instruments.

“Melodic journeys in the music of Greece”

Educational program by the Greek Music Workshop of the Municipality of Athens.

Greek music and singing have always been identified with the history and culture of Greece. The educational program brings students closer to the world of Greek music to learn about Greek composers and musical instruments. It is a review of the origins of Greek music through traditional music, rebetiko, folk, political and contemporary songs to the present day, with the aim of helping participants to recognise the crucial role of Greek music in shaping our cultural identity.

«Journey ath the Big Band»

Educational activity by Big Band (City of Athens)

This programme is an introduction to the world of jazz music, from its “golden age” to the present day, with well-known pieces played by orchestras of the genre. The instruments that make up the orchestra, both as groups and individually, are introduced, as well as the ways in which the groups support and complement each other in the varied and diverse styles in which the orchestra engages.
