A “Department for Teaching and Research in Asia Minor Studies” is established at the University of Macedonia (PAMAK). The announcement of the establishment of the Chair will take place on Friday 22 November 2024 at the City Hall of Thessaloniki, where a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed.

The main speech of the event will be given by Professor of the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies, Dimitrios Stamatopoulos, entitled “From Ilion to Smyrna: Asia Minor from long to short history”. The Rector of the University of Macedonia, Prof. Stylianos Katranidis, the President of the Association of Exporters – SEVE, Simeon Diamantidis, the Byzantine historian and former Rector of the University of Sorbonne, Eleni Glycatzi-Arveler and the actress, writer and historian, Mimi Denisi, will also speak.
