Description

The Postgraduate Program (MSc) of the Department of Chemistry at Democritus University of Thrace, titled: Chemical Industry: MSc in Quality, Safety, Security, Health and Environmental Management is implemented in collaboration with the Hellenic Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (ELINYAE), through a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at strengthening educational and research synergy in the critical areas of health, safety, and industrial resilience. 

Our Objectives

This program is aimed at graduates of Higher Education Institutions in Greece or equivalent institutions abroad. Specifically, it is open to graduates from: Schools of Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, Geotechnical Sciences, Engineering, Law, or Political Science and Public Administration and related departments from other Schools in Greece or recognized equivalent Institutions abroad, as well as graduates from TEI (Technological Educational Institutions) departments with a relevant field of study. Additionally, graduates from the National School of Public Administration and graduates from productive Military Schools of the Armed Forces, Security Forces, and the Fire Department, etc., and related sciences, as well as professionals from the private or public sector, who wish to acquire scientifically grounded and practically applicable knowledge in the following areas:

  • Quality Management and ISO Systems(ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
  • Environmental Policy and Sustainable Development
  • Occupational Health and Safety, with an emphasis on Process Safety
  • Response to Major Technological Accidents (MTA)
  • Protection of critical infrastructure and security against intentional acts (Security)

The Postgraduate Program (MSc) focuses on the training of QSSHE (Quality, Safety, Security, Health, and Environment) executives, who are essential for ensuring the proper operation, regulatory compliance, and sustainability of all production sectors, particularly in chemical and industrial activities.

Format and Structure of Studies
The program is full-time with a duration of three (3) academic semesters and is delivered entirely through certified methodologies of synchronous and asynchronous distance learning (e-learning), ensuring the possibility of participation without geographical restrictions or the need for physical presence.
The multidisciplinary approach and the interdisciplinary structure allow the inclusion of students with diverse academic backgrounds, offering comprehensive training and fostering skills in analysis, management, and operational application within a unified framework.
