The Russian Barracks, a place reconstructed by the Municipality of Chania in order to host actions that highlight the rich intangible cultural heritage, is filled with children’s voices every Saturday, with free actions targeted at the little ones and aimed at bringing them closer to the tradition of our land.

Thus, on Saturday 1 June 2024 at the Russian Barracks of the Municipality of Chania, at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. children from 6 years old and above will have the opportunity to get in touch with the soapmaker’s profession.

Children will learn the art of soap making by watching a video and then create their own soap paste. Using their imagination and creativity, they will make soaps in different colours and shapes. Each child will take their soaps home to use or give as gifts.

Registration is required by calling the Office of Culture and Music Education on working days and hours 28213 41613.Reservations will be made from Monday 27 May 2024.

The action is implemented in the framework of the program carried out by the Municipality of Chania for the promotion of the intangible cultural heritage of Chania, with relevant videos presenting a series of traditional professions that tend to disappear.
