The third GSS is a special vessel, more powerful, with a wide range of capabilities to support the fleet’s strike groups, operational planning and implementation of multi-type missions and not only logistics.
At a particularly critical juncture, in view of important decisions regarding the Navy‘s armaments program and upgrading of the country’s naval power, the shipowner Panos Laskaridis returns with a new donation of great operational value and efficiency, offering the Fleet a third General Support Ship (GSS) .
The third GSS donation comes exactly one year after the second GSS HERACLES was delivered to the Navy and only twenty months after the first donation, of GSS ATLAS I. The third GSS AIAS –named after the Salaminian Homeric hero– is a special vessel, more powerful, with a wide range of capabilities to support the fleet’s strike groups, operational planning and implementation of multi-type missions and not only logistics.
The third General Support Ship – GSS AIAS – will allow for a further strengthening of the Logistics projects of the Navy and will enhance the availability and the operational interchangeability of these units. This type of ships, in their warship version, has proven to be particularly useful to the development of innovative tactical and operational plans.
