Icarus and Ellie managed to cheat death; they were not lost in the waves. Having escaped their fate, they found themselves in Nereus’s palace, in a world overflowing with the love and care of gods and mortals. The years passed peacefully, and they grew up, yet never for a single moment did they forget their loved ones—those who had given them up for lost and mourned for them.
The two young people, marked by loss, met by fate to heal their wounds; they unite their dreams and set out on the journey home.
With their love as their sole compass, they will face gods, storms, shipwrecks, adventures, and wars. What path will their destiny now chart, when one finds himself far from the other?
A tender story set against the backdrop of Greek mythology. An ode to pure love, empathy, friendship, and the hope that is born from destruction…
About author
Mary Kostaki was born and raised in Nea Artaki, Euboea. She is a historian of Greek culture. From a young age, she was fascinated by ancient myths and folk tales, so her research focuses on Greek mythology and folklore. Her articles appear in both print and online media, shedding light on lesser-known aspects of myths and our cultural heritage. Following her first book, The Secret of Icarus, she returns with her second work, Icarus and Ellie—On the Great Journey.
Her deep love for her roots in Asia Minor makes her an active member of the “Artakines and Kyzikines Everywhere” association, where she volunteers.
At the same time, she is active in the performing arts, participating in the association’s theater group. In her dual role as a playwright and actress, she contributes to the cultural life of her hometown, as her plays are performed at local cultural events.
Since her marriage to Grigoris Kostakis, Ph.D. in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), she has divided her time between Athens and her hometown. She has two children: Theodosia, a mechanical engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) with an M.Sc., and Yiannis, a graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Business and an information security consultant with an M.Sc.
