The Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy and the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, in collaboration with the Municipality of Kavala and the Association of Cypriots of Kavala Prefecture “Akritas,” present the exhibition “Cyprus, 1974. Memory Is the Only Homeland of the People” at the “Lefteris Athanasiadis” Cultural Center [Municipal Tobacco Warehouse].

The exhibition captures the memory of the 1974 Turkish invasion through a large number of artifacts that have been sourced and loaned by numerous organizations and private individuals. The narrative thread of the exhibition follows the historical timeline: life before 1974, the coup, the invasion, the refugees, those trapped on the island, the prisoners of war, and the missing. At the same time, the exhibition chronicles the struggle against the occupation, reconstruction, efforts to preserve cultural heritage and education, creativity, and a vision for the future.

The exhibition will open on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. It will run through November 27, 2026. Educational programs will be held during the exhibition.
