The Hydra Cultural Association and the GSA/Historical Archives-Museum of Hydra will welcome, on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., two distinguished Greek musicians, violinist Alexandros Gavriilidis-Petrin and Hydra-born pianist Stamatis Vlachodimitris, for a special concert titled “Three Continents – Three Voices.” A musical journey from Europe to Russia and America, through three different musical languages and three important composers: Johannes Brahms, Sergei Prokofiev, and Aaron Copland.

The PROGRAM opens with Johannes Brahms’s Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano in D minor, Op. 108, one of the most important works in the repertoire for violin and piano. This is followed by Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonata No. 2 for Violin and Piano in D major, Op. 94a, and the concert concludes with American composer Aaron Copland’s Two Pieces for Violin and Piano (1926), “Nocturne” and “Ukulele.”

The collaboration between Alexandros Gavriilidis-Petrin and Stamatis Vlachodimitris brings together two musicians with a significant international presence and a track record of performing at leading music institutions and concert venues across Europe and the United States.

ALEXANDROS GAVRIELIDIS – PETRIN, a violinist from Thessaloniki, studied in the United States at the Manhattan School of Music, the San Francisco Conservatory, and the USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles, under the guidance of Pamela Frank and Midori Goto. He has performed at major venues, including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Walt Disney Hall, and has collaborated as a soloist with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra and the Greek-Turkish Youth Orchestra. In recent years, she has been active on the U.S. West Coast, performing with leading symphony orchestras in the region.

STAMATIS VLACHODIMITRIS, a native of Hydra, is a pianist with an international career. He has performed in major concert halls across Europe and the United States, including the Wiener Musikverein, the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls, the Greek National Opera at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, and the Seeger Center for Hellenic Studies at Princeton University. He has won awards at international competitions and is completing his doctorate in piano performance at Rutgers University.

This concert is a unique musical encounter in Hydra, where European tradition, Russian musical composition, and American creativity come together through the sounds of the violin and the piano.

The proceeds from the concert will be used to support the Hydra Cultural Association.
