Description

The MSc Program “Mediterranean Agricultural Production Systems” primarily aims at the scientific training and specialization of scientists in issues related to the environment and agricultural production in the Mediterranean region, under the pressure of climate change, and through the use of modern methods and technologies.

It seeks to promote scientific knowledge and advance research in fields related to modern cultivation systems of plant species with high added value, in cutting-edge areas of plant production science, as well as to train highly specialized scientists capable of assuming responsible roles in public and private sector organizations.

Eligible applicants to the MSc program include graduates from Departments of Agricultural Sciences, Geotechnical Sciences, Engineering, and Environmental Studies, as well as Departments of Natural Sciences from Universities and Technological Educational Institutes in Greece or equivalent institutions abroad. Candidate selection is carried out in accordance with current legislation, the Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Regulations of the University of Thessaly and the provisions of the present regulation, based on the degree/diploma grade, possession of relevant academic qualifications, publications in scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences and an interview.

Attendance in this MSc Program requires the payment of tuition fees amounting to €2,500, and a scholarship is awarded to the candidate with the highest score. The program lasts two academic semesters and includes a total of seven courses (four in the winter semester and three in the spring semester) across two specializations (“Sustainable Agriculture and Plant Breeding” and “Cutting-edge Fields in Fruit and Vegetable Production”), as well as the completion of a master’s thesis (total of 60 ECTS credits).

Course instruction in the MSc Program is conducted both through distance learning and through participation in in-person lectures. Additionally, within the educational framework of the program, opportunities for training and engagement with the labor market through initiatives such as career days, workshops, and educational visits are provided.
