The Social Intervention Association “ERASMOS,” as part of INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY in March, is organizing, among other events, the 1st VIDEO ART FEST MEETING in Veroia and presenting the works of 4 + 1 women under the general title “BIOGRAPHIES OF 4 + 1 WOMEN.”
“BIOGRAPHIES OF 4 + 1 WOMEN”
Four (4) women—Anni Katsidou and Stella Kolyvopoulou in Thessaloniki, Georgia Lale in New York, Maria Salouvardou in Berlin, and one (1) in our city, Katerina Anastasiou, meet in Veroia and “collaborate” with the aim of stirring emotion through their work and raising the viewer’s awareness of “taboo” issues that deeply concern our world and require special attention not only from institutions but also from society itself, as people tend to remain silent on matters that might make us feel vulnerable or provoke negative reactions from those around us.
“ERASMOS” serves as a platform for dialogue, breaking down isolation and fostering collective action, as we believe that societies can only change through education and knowledge. Art comes to assist precisely in this, to serve as a refuge but also to provoke, to raise the viewer’s awareness by offering yet another window into thought and the soul.
The “BIOGRAPHIES 4+1 WOMEN” initiative is hosted simultaneously at various locations throughout the city and functions as an urban fabric that transforms and revitalizes public space, connects us with Culture, Time and Space, and offers us a range of social, cultural, and psychological benefits.
We can describe the event as “a journey toward self-awareness,” as it invites us on an artistic journey, marking an experiential exploration through the world of creation, while simultaneously transforming the city into a living stage, highlighting the potential of public space as a place of encounter and not merely of passage.
The City Hall, the Lyceum of Greek Women of Veroia, the Public Central Library, and the underground parking garage at City Hall Square—iconic, historic sites, places with different meanings and emotional significance, host the activities and work of the 4+1 women and become the ideal setting for their stories—our stories—to be told.
