
VACANCIES FOR SPECIALIST TEACHING SCIENTISTS
TITLE: Specialist Scientist (Teaching)
CATEGORY: Part-time contract for the following periods:
a) Winter Semester 2026-27 (September – December 2026) and/or
b) Spring Semester 2026-27 (January – April/May 2027)
CAMPUS: University of Cyprus, Nicosia
The Department of Economics at the University of Cyprus is accepting applications to fill a number of Special Teaching Scientist positions to cover teaching needs for the Winter Semester 2026-27 and Spring Semester 2026-27. Filling of the positions is subject to the availability of funding. It should be noted that applicants are not required to be Cypriot citizens. However, they must be permanently resident in Cyprus during their period of employment and are requested to ensure that this will be possible before submitting their application. Submission of an application implies acceptance of the above provision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching undergraduate or graduate courses, 3 hours per week.
- Supporting students at least 2 hours per week, as office hours for answering questions and completing assignments.
- Supervising final exams.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
General Requirements:
- Doctorate (PhD) from a recognized university in Economics or another field related to the courses taught (e.g., Finance).
- Very good knowledge of Greek and/or English.
- Copies of recent teaching evaluations (where available).
- Special Requirements for Course OIK398 Issues in the Cypriot Economy
- Excellent knowledge of the Cypriot economy at a professional level and/or experience in conducting studies on issues related to the Cypriot economy.
- Doctorate (PhD) or Master’s degree (MSc) from a recognized university in the field of Economics or another related field relevant to the course taught.
