The Municipality of Agia invites residents to an open information event on home composting on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Town Hall Square.

The event is part of the Municipality’s program to distribute free home composters, with the aim of reducing waste and creating natural fertilizer for our gardens.

Food scraps such as fruit, vegetables, coffee grounds, eggshells, chopped branches, leaves, small amounts of wood ash, etc. are collected in the home composters. This is followed by a natural process that converts food scraps into compost (natural fertilizer), which citizens can use directly on their plants.

During the event, residents will have the opportunity to:

  • learn the basic steps of proper composting,
  • see how a home composter works,
  • ask questions about suitable/unsuitable materials,
  • submit an application to participate in the program on the spot.

For the distribution of free compost bins, priority will be given to those interested.

The Municipality of Agia is launching a new and demanding source separation system and is asking for the cooperation of residents as a prerequisite for its success.

More information about the initiative and the home composting program can be found on the Municipality’s website., www.dimosagias.gr.
