The Archive of Theraic Studies – Dimitris Tsitouras, in collaboration with the Benaki Museum, presents a new book entitled “The Santorini through the lenses of Dimitris Charisiadis (1911–1993)”.

The bilingual edition (Greek–English) is the eighth volume of the Archive and includes rare photographic material of particular historical interest, as it captures Chancellor Konrad Adenauer’s trip to Santorini in 1954, ten years after the end of World War II.

Adenauer was accompanied by prominent figures of the time, such as Spyros Markezinis, Professor Spyros Marinatos, and journalist and author Spyros Melas, who published three chronicles in the newspaper Estia — which are republished in the book.

Professor Theodoros Koutroumpas, Aliki Tsirgialou, and Eleni Helmi-Markezini also contributed with their texts, offering a historical, photographic, and personal approach to the great photographer’s work.
