
The Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy, in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Friends of Manolis Anagnostakis Association, as part of the 60th DEMETRIA Festival and on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the poet’s birth, presents the exhibition “The theme is now what you say. The life and work of the poet Manolis Anagnostakis.”
The inauguration took place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the foyer of Thessaloniki City Hall.
The eleven sections of the exhibition, each corresponding to a poetry collection, build the narrative of Manolis Anagnostakis’ life and work and attempt to highlight his mark, primarily in the field of poetry and culture, but also in that of political participation and social presence. but also in the field of political participation and social presence.
Poems, articles, manuscripts, photographs, and other documents in digital form, which come from the poet’s personal archive—as classified by his son, Anestis—but also from the collections of the History Center of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Benaki Museum, the Archives of Contemporary Social History, and the ERT Archive, take us on a journey through the personal and collective journey of Manolis Anagnostakis, as it was dynamically shaped by the political, social, and intellectual conflicts of the years 1940-1974, as well as the post-dictatorship period.
The exhibition will run from October 29 to November 30, 2025.
