The Thessaloniki Concert Hall and the Teloglion Foundation of Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki meet in the “courtyard of Isabella d’Este” to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their joint operation.

The two organizations are hosting a musical evening with the theme “In the courtyard of Isabella d’Este” on Sunday, October 12, at 7:15 p.m., in the “Emilios Riadis – M2” Hall of the Megaron Concert Hall, beginning with two introductory speeches followed by the musical portion. The speakers on the topic will be Professor Alexandra Goulaki-Voutyra, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and General Director of the Teloglion Foundation, and Julietta Karori, Producer of ERT’s Third Program.

It should be noted that the “Court of Isabella d’Este” (1474–1539) was the literary and artistic center of Italy in the early 16th century. Great personalities such as Ludovico Ariosto, Pietro Bebo, Baldassare Castiglione, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Titian passed through there.

Ottaviano Petrucci’s first printed editions of secular music were based largely on works by two musicians in Isabella’s service, Bartolomeo Tromboncino and Marcello Cara.

The musical program, which begins at 8:30 p.m., is based on their own frottolas for solo voice with instrumental accompaniment (a precursor to Baroque monody) and is interspersed with works from the period for solo lute, or viola da gamba and lute.

At the same time, works of art by great painters created in her courtyard are also on display.
