The volume highlights the professional activity of eleven Greek female art critics—Efi Ferentinos, Eleni Vakalo, Efi Andreadi, Maria Kotzamanis, Beatrice Spiliadi, Effie Strouza, Eleni Varopoulou, Dora Iliopoulou-Rogan, Peggy Kounenaki, Maria Marangou, Bia Papadopoulou—during the postwar period, who have a consistent and regular presence in the periodical press, including newspapers, magazines, and art publications, as well as frequent involvement in curating exhibitions.

It examines both the position and influence of female art critics on artistic production in Greece, highlighting their role in the production of critical discourse in the country, as well as their participation in writing the history of art during this period, which is still pending.

The scientific editors of the publication, Irini Gerogianni and Haris Kanellopoulou, conclude in their joint foreword to the publication:

“The texts that make up the content of this special edition on Greek female art critics in the post-war period, apart from being an important record, serve as a springboard for new thoughts and conclusions about the “body” of work that is revealed to be intense, intense, and multifaceted in the years after World War II and up to the present day.”
