The ARTICON scientific laboratory of the School of Applied Arts and Culture of the PADA, in collaboration with ART VALUATION and the law firm ArtSecure, is organizing a workshop on “Issues of Management and Ownership of Art Collections,” which will take place at the GSA / HISTORICAL ARCHIVES – MUSEUM OF HYDRA on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The workshop aims to inform the public about the proper management of personal property, with an emphasis on art collections, in accordance with contemporary methodology and scientific standards. The main focus is on good practice in the field of appraisal, legal management, and the technological approach to works of art.

In particular, the applications of modern technologies for the study and scientific documentation of the material substance, construction technology, and state of preservation of works of art will be highlighted. Internationally recognized practices for creating artwork identity, analytical recording, and valid appraisal of collections will be presented. Due diligence actions for issues of provenance and intellectual property will be presented. In addition, there will be a discussion on the cross-border transport of works of art, the restrictions and tax obligations arising from it.

The workshop is aimed at owners, specialist consultants, art lovers, and the wider public with an interest in the proper management of collections.
