EMST | National Museum of Contemporary Art of Athens is pleased to announce the launch of the EMST Mentorship Programme.

The aim of the Programme is to promote opportunities for long-term exchange and dialogue between emerging Greek visual artists and established international contemporary visual artists and art professionals. The Programme is addressed to artists from Greece with the aim of helping them to develop their practices and to grow professionally. Finally, it aims to consolidate the visibility of Greek visual artists abroad.

Eighteen visual artists based in Greece are given the opportunity to engage in creative and private conversations with internationally renowned visual artists for a significant period of time over the course of approximately one year.

EMST invites nine mentor artists from around the world to share their experience and expertise with emerging Greek artists.

The nine mentors participating in this season’s programme:

Iván Argote | Saskia Bos | Candice Breitz Hera Büyüktaşcıyan | Marcus Coates | Michael Karikis | Michael Landy Julian Rosefeldt Penny Siopis

The programme will start in March 2025 with the selection of 18 artists. The Mentors will then make their first trip to Athens in the spring. It will be an opportunity for them to meet the supported artists, learn about their practices and become familiar with the city and the space in which they work. After this first meeting, and for a period of almost a year, each Mentor will maintain regular online communication with the artist(s) they support. The Mentorship Programme aims to promote dialogue and exchange on creative and productive processes while providing opportunities for future collaborations and development for emerging artists.

The completion of the Programme is foreseen for Autumn/Winter 2025-2026 when a two-day meeting will be held in Athens, which will include public lectures and workshops and will give the mentors the opportunity to meet personally with the supported artists.
