The technique of scenography “stars” in the exhibition entitled ” Paper Scenes” as well as in the two-volume illustrated encyclopaedic dictionary by Apostolos Fokion Vettas, professor emeritus of scenography at the Department of Theatre of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and it becomes obvious that it has been his main protagonist and love for himself, all his life.

The inter-artistic dimension of scenography (theatre, speech, movement, visual arts, sound, architecture) as well as the possibilities arising from each form of applied art compose a special, new, malleable, constructivist setting in this exhibition, in the exhibition spaces on the ground floor of MOMus-Museum of Modern Art-Costakis Collection in Thessaloniki, at the Lazariston Monastery, from 30 January to 23 March 2025. Children and adults have the opportunity to intervene with special lighting techniques in the already existing settings in the space and bring them to life in any way they wish.

The exhibition of models and paper sculptures also serves as an ideal framework for the presentation of the two-volume illustrated encyclopaedic dictionary on scenography, stage architecture and theatre technology entitled “A. F. Vettas. Scenes. Notes on the Art and Technique of Scenography”, a real life work of Apostolos Vettas, a highly educational contribution published by MOMus under his supervision and with the support of the Ioannis F. Kostopoulos Foundation, at the event to be held on Thursday 30 January 2025 at the MOMus Museum of Modern Art, 18:00-20:30.

Speakers at the event are: Apostolos Vettas, professor emeritus of stage design at the Department of Theatre of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Petros Martinidis, professor emeritus of theory and criticism of architecture at the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and author, Platon Mavromoustakos, professor of the history of 20th century theatre at the Department of Theatre of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Lois Papadopoulos, professor emeritus of architecture at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, University of Thessaly.
