Mozart’s operas, especially those with a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte, also known as the Mozart – DaPonte trilogy, are three timeless masterpieces that belong to the genre of opera buffa and drama giocoso and form the backbone of the repertoire of lyric theatres worldwide, but are also the reference repertoire for the study and development of lyric singers.

In the seminar organized by the Friends of Music Society on 20-24 January 2025 at the Society’s Teaching Hall at the Athens Concert Hall, the internationally distinguished baritone Dimitris Tiliakos will teach the style, technique and interpretation of the basic roles of the trilogy, on arias, recitativi, ensembles and entire scenes. The main focus of his teaching is the theatricality that stems from the timeless themes of these works: power, morality, religion and erotic desire. The participants will be accompanied on the piano by the well-known pianist Thanos Margetis.

The intensive one-week perfection seminar will open with a short lecture on the works of Mozart and DaPonte and will close on 29 January at Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall with the performance É aperto a tutti quanti directed by Dimitris Teliakos, which will be open to the public (with ticket).
