The new, radically renovated Knossos Theatre reintroduces itself to the audience with a great theatrical event: the performance Brokeback Mountain directed by Konstantinos Rigos, with Dimitris Kapouranis and Michael Tabakakis in the leading roles.

Annie Proulx’s sensitive short story about the complicated love between two cowboys that lasted a lifetime was made famous by the now classic film of the same name. This was followed by Ashley Robinson’s stage adaptation, which is being staged for the first time in Greece at the Knossos Theatre.

Twenty-year-olds Ennis del Mar and Jack Twist meet in a job agency when they take a seasonal job as shepherds in the wild mountains of Wyoming. In the isolation of the landscape, in the pastures and peaks where summer never arrives, the two boys fall deeply in love.

Konstantinos Rigos’ direction captures the raw and intimate essence of the original story, conveying the pure experience of two young men in forbidden love and social restrictions.
