On Sunday 13 October 2024 at 11:00 a guided tour of the National Historical Museum’s temporary exhibition “From Great… to Modern Greece (Part B): the Refugees” will be held by the curators.

The exhibition is divided into four major thematic sections (The Causes, Uprooting, Rooting, Memory). It examines the refugee condition and attempts to present the refugee phenomenon as fully as possible, through the issues that concerned the homogenous populations who found themselves in the plight of having to leave their ancestral homes and settle in metropolitan Greece between 1821 and 1923. Through human stories, testimonies and recordings, which are accompanied by photographic evidence, historical documents and objects from the collections of the Museum and numerous institutions and individuals, aspects such as forced flight, the difficulties of movement, reception, settlement, integration in the new homeland and the management of the trauma of refugees are illuminated.

To register for the tour, please contact Anna Kandia by email: [email protected] or by phone: 210 3237617 (ext. 109) from Tuesday to Friday 10:00-15:00.

Tour Duration: 75΄
