Ten authors analyse as many reforms that took place in Greece in the 200 years from liberation from the Ottoman Empire to the present day. The aim of this publication is not to limit itself to recording, evaluating and narrating each reform, but to delve deeper into the social, political and economic conditions that imposed it.
They were chosen on the basis of the change they brought about in a pivotal and critical change in the life of the country.
Although they occurred in different periods, with different political and social conditions, their overall study leads to the emergence of some common features: They respond to pre-existing needs; they are the result of a collective and persistent effort; their results are not immediate, but take time to mature. However, a key conclusion is the crucial role that people and society have played over time in the design and implementation of reforms in Greece.
