A “Journey through time guided by Yannis Markopoulos and his Thessalian circle“, will be presented at 9.30 in the evening on Friday 21 June in the framework of the Amateur Theatre Festival of the Municipality of Patras at the Old Slaughterhouses by the 21st High School of Patras.
It all takes place at the beginning of the 20th century. The Thessalian plain is a place full of contrasts. On the one hand, the powerful landowners and on the other, the impoverished farmers, on the one hand, oppression and exploitation, on the other, the struggles for a decent living and freedom. In this grim setting, the villagers welcome with graceful naivety everything new that appears, such as the telephone, the train, photography…
The texts of the performance are by Stavroula Plumi. The direction, supervision and set design of the performance by May Despina, Nibi Maria and Plumi Stavroula
Admission to the performances of the Amateur Theatre Festival is free of charge.
