The Municipality of Agia in the framework of the European project “Creating and Upscaling Sponge Landscapes Working with Natural Water Retention and Sustainable Management” of the European Project HORIZON-MISS-2023-CLIMA-OCEAN-SOIL-01 invites all interested parties to attend the 1st open meeting of the Project for cooperation and participation, on Monday 27 May 2024, at 20:00 (8pm), in the Municipal Council Hall, at the Municipality’s headquarters in Agia.

The main focus of the project is the application to support sustainable water management in a changing climate and associated hydro-meteorological extremes such as floods and droughts. The project will provide an opportunity to advance scientific knowledge of the social, political, technical and environmental dimensions with water conservation measures. It will apply an integrated multi-factor approach to demonstrate the effectiveness of measures for improved water and soil management to enhance water retention in three major river basins, the Pinios (Greece), Lèze (France) and Vecht (Netherlands and Germany).
