41 professors of AUTH, who received the title of Emeritus in the year 2022, will be honored at a special event on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 13.30, at the “Alexandros Papanastasiou” ceremony Hall of the Old School of Philosophy of auth.

The event will begin with the address of the Rector of AUTH, Professor Nikolaos G. Papaioannou. The Rector, after thanking all his professors emeritus from his heart, will refer to the important work and their selfless contribution, both to the University and to society.

Immediately after, the speech of Professor Emeritus of the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Science of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Chariton-Charles Hideroglou will take place, on the topic: “academic life and biodiversity in the footprint of a career”.

In his antiphonesis, Mr. Hideroglou will attempt to include in the imprint of an academic career the concept of biodiversity. According to Mr. Hideroglou, “the awareness of the knowledge offered by the concepts of academia and biodiversity constitutes an important step towards the sustainability of the planet. The stakes are high, conscious. The concept of biodiversity includes everything that expresses the phenomenon of life. A historical review from the foundation of life, the evolution of man, in broad lines, and his influence on the world’s development, will be put on the table. With examples of the international literature and references to the possible scenarios of the potential developments of humanity, paths will be sought that may provoke the thoughts of all. Food for thought will take on a greater dimension with references to education issues. The institution that we have served and will serve with passion and consistency, from other positions of the social firmament. Linking the academic footprint to a better tomorrow may even challenge our consciences.”

Then the award of honor to Emeritus Professors will take place.
