Stratis Vogiatzis presents Kampos, Chios, the land of notable Greek families of the Diaspora, with coat of arms and mansions, orchards with citrus fruits, constantly inhabited since the 14th century. As the narrator of the book, he wanders in the landscape of Kampos taking in everything, interacting with people and animals, photographing, recording testimonies, collecting documentation which he classifies and presents. As he says: the more the pieces of this puzzle come together, the more enigmatic is the picture they reveal.

I imagine Kampos not as an isolated island in the middle of nowhere but as a network like the network of the Diaspora Chiots, with infinite synapses, marriages and associations, an enigmatic spatiality pulsating with motion, allowing the various potential realities to become expressed symbiotically, one within the other.
