The research programme titled “SEE Countries for the Integrity of football clubs”, aiming to tackle corruption in football, began on 1 January 2020 and will be completed on 31 December 2021, with the participation of 290 coaches, athletes and managers from Greece, Bulgaria and Romania. Results showed that they considered the manipulation of games very serious, either in semi-professional or in professional football. Most important problem is the manipulation of games with a view to financial gain from betting.
The programme partners are the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the National University of Physical Education and Sports in Bucharest, Romania, the National Sports Academy Vasil Levski in Sofia, Bulgaria, and four non-academic entities: Play Fair Code in Vienna, Austria, Fair Play Code in Athens, the Institute of International Strategic Relations in Paris, France, and the Romanian Football Federation.
